in Qalimare Limestone area, Viti Levu, Fiji Islands.

Subjects: Field study of geology, plants, and training for fundamental surveying.

Schedule

07 SEP 2003

  USP staff and students join with Japanese group(arriving on 06 SEP) at The Crowfs Nest.

08 SEP 2003

  08:30 departure, 10:00 Sevusevu at Koronisagana village, 13:00 first lecture on geology and surveying.

  15:30 leave village, 17:00 hotel.

09 SEP

  08:30 departure, 11:00 Tawatawadi-Conduct fieldwork by dividing members into 3 groups of geology, vegetation, and surveying. 15:30 knock off.  17:00 hotel.

10 SEP

  08:30 departure, 11:00 Tawatawadi,

Fieldwork, the course(geology, plants, surveying)will be shifted among the groups.

  15:30 knock off. 17:00 hotel.

11 SEP

08:30 departure, 11:00 Tawatawadi, 3rd day of fieldwork, shift groups.

  15:30 knock off. 17:00 hotel. Some of the Japanese student will remain and stay in the village overnight.

12 SEP

  09:30 Japanese group check out, move to Mana Island, 12:00 Denarau harbor, 14:00 Mana Island.

  Suva to Reef Resort bus stop: Coral Sun Fiji, Fiji Express Bus. 0730 Suva hotel, 0955 Reef Resort

  7 minutes walk to The Crowfs Nest

  Hotel to village/ village to hotel: chartered bus (local type, max.60)

  Reef Resort to Suva: 14:50 Reef Resort, 17:15 Suva hotel arrival.

 

Food

  We will be cooking for ourselves everyday at The Crowfs Nest by procuring foods from Sigatoka market. This applies to all the members of both USP and Musashi Tech. Self-cooking is a part of this program.

 

Expenses for USP Staff and Student

 Hotel: FJ$225.5 for individual (FJ$135.3 for 3 person par night x 5 nights)

 Bus fare: FJ$22 x2=FJ$44 (Suva-Reef Resort, Coral Sun Fiji, Fiji Express)
